  1. SCRAMBLE FROM PARCHIM
  2.  
  3. In early February, 1945, the veteran first 
  4. Gruppe of Jagdgeschwader 1 was 
  5. ordered to turn over its Focke Wulf 190s 
  6. to II Gruppe on the eastern front and 
  7. proceed to Parchim for conversion 
  8. training on the He 162.  This same group 
  9. of men had participated in Operation 
  10. Bodenplatte on New Year's Day, and was 
  11. now to lead the Volksjager aerial armada 
  12. into combat.

  14. After nine weeks at Parchim, but before 
  15. their He 162 training was complete, I/JG 1 
  16. was transferred to Ludwiglust.  Six days 
  17. later, they were transferred again to Leck, 
  18. a chaotic collection point for displaced 
  19. fighter groups throughout northern 
  20. Germany.  With no fuel and little or no 
  21. organization at Leck, the Volksjagers of 
  22. JG 1 were destined to sit immobile until 
  23. they were forced to surrender on May 8.

  25.                     YOUR MISSION

  27. As you are preparing your flight of 
  28. Volksjagers for take-off from Parchim 
  29. Luftwaffe airfield, a squadron of American 
  30. P-47s makes a surprise attack on your 
  31. airfield.  Fortunately, there is a flight of 
  32. Me 262s on patrol overhead.
  33.  
  34. Get airborne fast to avoid being strafed, 
  35. and then engage the enemy fighters.  You 
  36. can use the antiaircraft guns here to your 
  37. advantage by forcing the attacking aircraft 
  38. to follow you in low passes over the field.
